Coloured Stone was formed in 1977 by Bunna Lawrie, lead singer and songwriter, combining rock, ska, reggae with a unique Aboriginal sound incorporating traditional instruments such as clap sticks, didgeridoo, bundawuthada (gong stone) and traditional language. Bunna Lawrie & Coloured Stone, Australia’s premier Aboriginal band, originally came from Koonibba, South Australia on the Nullarbor Plains and after 40 + years on the road are now recognised world wide.

Coloured Stone have Played in almost every Aboriginal community in Australia - Seen here top end with Alex Doomagee and Mob after playing at the Doomagee Rodeo.

Bunna and Coloured Stone have collaborated, performed & toured with many Australian & Overseas Artists Midnight Oil, Julian Lennon, Leo Sayer, John Paul Young, Paul Kelly, Angry Anderson, KD Lang, Iva Davis, No Fixed Address, Yothu Yindi, Jack Thompson, Peter Garrett, Robert Hirst, Buzz Bidstrup, Bob Randall, Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Kev Carmody, Jimmy Chi, Mary G, Dan Sultan, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Mandawuy Yunupingu, Whaledreamers, Gangargiri, Jack Thompson, John English, Christine Anu… and many many more!
