MAD DOGS: THE FULL COCKER
David and Miles Sly present
The greatest live recording in rock’n’roll history is being recreated on stage with MAD DOGS – The Full Cocker, for a special one-off Fringe performance at Adelaide’s premiere live music venue The Gov.
The incredible 1970 Joe Cocker Mad Dogs & Englishmen concert is being lovingly presented in its entirety – honouring musical director Leon Russell’s incredible Wall of Sound arrangements to surround the greatest rockin’ soul voice of our generation. Now audiences can thrill to the spectacle of a new red hot 18-piece superband capturing the same massive sound in all its wild splendour, with two drummers, two keyboards, horns, a nine-voice choir and big-voiced Steve Brown singing Cocker’s finest anthems – The Letter, Cry Me A River, Space Captain, Delta Lady, With A Little Help From My Friends and more.
The desire has long burned within dynamic father-and-son drumming team David and Miles Sly to recreate Cocker’s legendary 1970 Mad Dogs & Englishmen live album. They found the perfect ally in Adelaide blues stalwart Steve Brown, whose voice authentically revives Cocker’s finest performances. Many of Adelaide’s finest musicians across generations have been assembled in the huge band, including Deryck Charles (piano), Peter Martin (organ), Ryan Mifsud (bass), Tom Kneebone (guitar) and esteemed singers Jacqui Yeo, Matt Noble Susie Farrugia, Liz Stocco and Irene Petrie within the mighty nine-voice choir.
