Day of the Song Festival
Presented by Tutti Arts and Infusion Music
Hot on the heels of Day of the Song Choral Concert at the Grainger Studio on December 3rd, Tutti Arts and Infusion Music bring you the Day of the Song at The Gov on December 4th for an afternoon of pure musical magic.Day of the Song’s headline artist for 2016 is Tony Lindsay, ‘the Voice of Santana’ for over 20 years. Tony has toured and performed around the world with Carlos Santana, gaining 11 Grammys and countless accolades along the way. He has also recorded and performed with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Al Jarreau and Teddy Pendergrass.
Tony will be joined on stage by electrifying US soul singer and world-class keyboard player Janice Maxie-Reid who has toured internationally with notable artists including Sting, George Duke and Stevie Wonder.
“Janice Maxie-Reid is simply BRILLIANT! She is truly a musician’s musician, and a singer’s singer. Watching and listening to her perform is an experience that cannot be duplicated.” Larry Batiste, Music Director, Producer & Arranger
Together these two phenomenal performers will entertain with a soul-stirring mix of jazz, blues and R&B classics. Special guests with Tony and Janice will be local and international blues legend Chris Finnen, and Adelaide’s own acoustic-pop darlings The Sisters of Invention, soon to be featured on ABC iView.
“Chris Finnen is one of Australia’s most innovative guitarists. He took us down to the crossroads and off into space, from Delta Blues to Chicago, from Adelaide to Northern Australia via India and Africa.” - Adelaide Fringe Review; The Australian, February 2013.
“The Sisters Of Invention differ from what your average listener or viewer might expect of a ‘disabled band’: this is no parade of trite ~inspirational anthems~. Rather, they are top notch pop songs that, like any other artists’, deal with the emotional truths of life” Clem Blastow, Daily Life – Fairfax Media
Expect a few surprises and some crowd participation to make Day of the Song at The Gov a truly exhilarating, definitely not to be missed musical experience.
