Her live performances are warm and inviting, drawing the audience in for an especially moving experience.

Singing and songwriting since the age of 14, Emily’s music is constantly evolving. The trials and joys of everyday life are translated through her poetic lyrics as she connects with her audience – providing a fresh and real perspective. Soundscapes and stories, reflections and ballads about the beauty and tragedy of urban pursuits, are brought to life in her songwriting.

Emily’s performances have a balanced blend of earthy and rhythmic acoustica, and intense and emotive interludes. With influences of classical guitar, jazz, folk and pop, the fusion of sounds is carefully weaved together to form her classic style.

Internationally-touring, ex-Adelaide songbird Abbie Cardwell’s one helluva self-taught banjo pickin’, guitar slingin’, harmonica totin’ chick with “the voice of a homesick angel.”

This multi award-winning songwriter draws inspiration from life and the roots of all music.

Soaking up her favourite moments of rock, folk, country, soul, and blues, Abbie creates what she has nicknamed as “Rootsy Toons”.

Now she’s based ‘on the road’ and in the middle of her East Coast tour before she heads to the USA to launch her latest album.

Summer Sessions

Thursday Summer Sessions @ The Gov is the place to be for a fruity cocktail with a bunch of good friends before the weekend hits and the road-trips, beaches and backyard BBQs beckon … laidback original live music … reggae, acoustic, roots, pop, alt. country, blues, soul, jazz and folk. Enjoy one of our great counter meals or indulge in one of our wicked desserts. The beers will be cold and the music will be sweet and summery …

Tonight:

Coby Grant (Vic)

Coby Grant is a singer of songs, a teller of tales, a believer of love, and an embracer of life. The acoustic/folk style singer songwriter based in Melbourne is working hard and putting herself on the map as an up and coming independent Australian artist.

After recently returning from a writing and recording stint in the US, where she worked with producers / writers / musicians such as Peter Malick (Norah Jones), Anthony J Resta (Collective Soul, Elton John, Duran Duran, Shawn Mullins), Ted Greenberg (The Funk Brothers, Chaka Khan) and Thomas Baraka DiCandia (Live, Sting, Weezer, Coolio), Coby has jumped straight back into touring the country promoting her new songs.

Coby has played at some of the country’s most prestigious venues- Manchester Lane and The Esplanade Hotel in Melbourne, The Basement in Sydney, Settlers Tavern in WA and many more. Her live performance is a pleasure, an adventure. Her quiet but cheeky manner and the delivery of her well crafted pop songs about things, people and love, account for the instantaneous connection that audiences feel to Coby.

Joined onstage by fellow vocalists Rach and Sal, the three girls create with amazing ease, magical harmonies that have been taking people’s breath away. Coby’s fan base continues to grow as she relentlessly pursues her quest to reach people with her songs, her heart and her infectious grin.
